Hiring: On-site Robotics Expert

I’m organising a small hackathon in Hamburg as part of a company retreat and need an on-site technical mentor to co-design, set-up and manage a robotics challenge.

Role: Technical Expert & On-site Facilitator
Event: Creative Engineering Hackathon
Dates: August 24–26, 2026 (3 days)
Location: Near Hamburg, Germany (exact venue TBC) — accommodation provided on-site
Format: 17 participants, 4 teams (of 4-5 engineers) 1 challenge (Robot Butler / autonomous mobile robotics)

What you'll actually do

  • Co-design the challenge — pre-event: finalise the brief, select and test the hardware, validate difficulty levels

  • Technical Setup of the hardware

  • Lead the technical kickoff: introduce the robot, the platform, the constraints. Facilitation support from the client.

  • Be present and available during build hours — teams are senior devs, they won't need hand-holding, but they'll hit blockers

  • Do 1–2 mentor rounds per day — short check-ins with each team on progress

  • Support the final demo on Day 3 — not a formal judging panel, more a celebration recap

What you don't need to do

  • Design the program (that's done)

  • Manage the schedule

  • Pay for the hardware

  • Be a professional MC or facilitator: basic energy and the ability to follow a plan is enough

Who you are

  • Comfortable with ROS2 and mobile robot platforms (TurtleBot4, iRobot Create 3, ROSMASTER) or equivalent

  • Have supported teams in a technical hackathon before: you know what "unblocking someone fast" looks like

  • Technically curious, chill but high-energy — you'll be embedded with a team of developers for 3 days

  • Fluent German

  • Ideal: you've already run a hackathon using this exact robot platform.

What's covered

  • Fee €3k+VAT (depending on profile)

  • Travel to/from Hamburg

  • Accommodation on-site with the team

  • All meals during the event
